Health & Vaccinations
We have been advised by the School Nurse Team that the BCG vaccination is now available to those at increased risk of TB.
While the BCG vaccine (which stands for Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine) is no longer given as part of the routine NHS childhood vaccination schedule, it is recommended for school age children who have an increased risk of developing TB, such as children who have recently arrived from countries with high levels of TB, or children who have come into close contact with somebody infected with respiratory TB.
This vaccination is now available from the SEPT immunisation service. Please refer to the attachment below for more information and to arrange your child’s vaccination.
