COVID Catch-Up
The last 12 months have affected ALL students in a negative manner. The COVID-19 Catch-up premium has been provided to assist schools in providing additional support and intervention for students in years 7-11 to help combat the negative impacts of the unprecedented disruption to their education as a result of coronavirus. The aggregate impact of lost time in education will be substantial, and the Covid-19 catch-up premium is provided in response to the scale of the significant challenge.
Covid Catch-Up - September 2020
We have embraced a number of schemes to ensure that our Most Able students are not disadvantaged during this time, and have the support to achieve the top grades.
Brilliant Tutoring Programme
A large number of Year 10 students receive tutoring in small groups (1:3), in core subjects with subject expert PhD tutors. Tutoring groups receive 15 hours of tutoring over 15 weeks, on top of our in-school support.
Academic Mentors
Expert specialists in Maths and English have been employed since the Summer 2020 to support students with gaps in their learning during this difficult time. Their focus is on ALL students, however time is prioritised for our Most Able students who need additional support to reach the top grades, in the form of 1:1 or 1:3 tuition.
Google Classrooms
Subjects have set up More Able Classrooms during the lockdown that allow students at all levels to access extension tasks, experience learning that they have been exposed to yet, with teachers on hand to provide support when the students need it.
