Scholar's Programme
The Brilliant Club Scholars Programme supports our most able Year 8 pupils in developing the knowledge, skills and ambition to secure places at highly selective universities.
The inspiring programme begins and ends with a trip to a highly selective university. Previous cohorts have visited the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. Pupils gain valuable insight into university life, through tours of facilities including libraries, lecture halls and student accommodation. The trips also give an exciting opportunity for pupils to speak to students currently studying at the universities.
During the programme, pupils take part in a series of university-style tutorials, led by a PhD tutor who teaches passionately about their world-leading research. Pupils learn to develop questions and take part in debates, while completing homework assignments which culminate in a final 1500 word essay.
Feedback from all of the PhD tutors has been fantastic, with comments about the maturity, work ethic and academic ability of our pupils highlighting that they are strong candidates to apply to the best universities in the future.
Comments from our Scholars graduates...
It was amazing and has really made me think about going to university.
I enjoyed the launch trip and our tutor was really helpful and really nice. Our tour guide gave us lots of information about the university.
