Academic achievement is our key priority.

In particular, we place a relentless focus on English and Mathematics, as these subjects unlock the rest of the curriculum and provide the foundations for a lifelong love of learning.

From the first day in Year 7 to the last day of Year 11, we continually monitor, challenge and support our students, enabling them to make exceptional progress. Students are set according to ability in English, Mathematics and Science, and receive constant support to achieve their ‘challenge target’.

A three year KS3 programme, based on depth and progress, allows students to make their GCSE choices at the end of Year 9 and study those subjects from Year 10 onwards. The initial part of Year 9 develops thinking skills and habits of mind, understanding how best to achieve in each subject area. We promote quality, not quantity; an grade 7 is not good enough if a Grade 9 is possible.

A team of Lead Practitioners across the English Baccalaureate subjects support high academic achievement. These teachers model outstanding teaching and provide high level training across the school, raising the bar for students and staff alike.

Our curriculum is designed to meet the abilities and aspirations of every student, whilst also reflecting the changing landscape of this dynamic and exciting 21st-century world. Having invested in state-of-the-art facilities, all our classrooms are superbly equipped with leading technology and resources.

Ultimately, we strive for academic excellence, so students can leave our school with the capability to compete for jobs in a global marketplace.
