Student Voice

Student Voice

There are Student Voice representatives in every tutor group and they are consistently able to gather feedback from the students and share this with their tutors and College Leader. Their mission is to share their thoughts and ideas on how we can improve all aspects of our school. All students input is valued within the James Hornsby Family and we understand that our students are our greatest resource.

The Student Voice team have already made strides towards raising their profile through Student Voice Surveys and Head Teacher Questions, which they lead in their form groups. Every term, the Head Teacher responds to the student questions and these results are presented, again, by Student Voice leads in form time.

What you said: “There isn’t enough variety in the canteen, can we have more options?”

What we did: we changed the canteen providers.

What you asked: ‘Are there going to be opportunities to catch up on missed learning?’

What we did: we put on extra interventions and support clubs to help you catch up on any missed learning.

You said: ‘Can we learn more about the environment and nature?’

We did: As a school we celebrated World Earth Day and every KS3 class had a lesson focused on nature and the environment.

What you said: “We’d like more information about our option choices. We’d also like an even wider variety of subjects.”

What we did: We started the options process earlier; we created an information booklet on each subject; every pupil had a 1-2-1 interview about their choices and we have added Construction and Sociology as brand new courses.
